"Shakey - Shakey....!"

Who doesn't love the Allstate Mayhem guy?  Apparently he was here today, but I never felt a thing!  Must have heard I was up for blogging about random stuff this week not pertaining to the garden :)

Thanks, Apple Pie Gal for checking in to make sure all was well!  I feel kind of gyp'ed, but not really I guess since I did live at the epicenter of the big 7.1 quake in Northern California and that was decidedly not fun, since it caused everyone to live in seedy motels for the better part of a year LOL.

I didn't even realize there was an earthquake until I got on Facebook.  It's a sad state of affairs when I get my news from Facebook.  They felt it pretty badly just 1/4 mile from me at the base, and apparently everyone around me - everyone's cells were down, the nuke plant was tripped, but me? -  I was busy cleaning the house (in bare feet on a wood floor and still didn't feel it!) to make it pretty for Irene's arrival this weekend!

Thanks for the concern, but all is well for now!  The other blogger near the quake that many of us follow is Lorie, so check in with us, girlfriend!

  3. Glad to here you are OK. I can't believe you didn't feel it there! My goodness we sure felt it all the way up here. I was in the garden and the shed was creeking and cracking and swaying a bit. It's on a concrete foundation. The cats got up and the neighbor came outside and said the lights were swaying!

I surely hope that Irene takes a hike out to sea!

  4. I love, love, love that guy! Marketing genius! And he's cute!

Can not believe that you didn't feel anything! That is amazing! You must have been in your zone, music blaring or something!

pst, Irene is not a houseguest.

Glad to hear you are all ok! Where were all your guys for this???

  5. Glad to see you missed it. It seems that most of the damage headed north of the epicenter. I barely felt it. I thought the dog was scratching at the foot of the couch, but no dog. Then I though maybe a just had a back spasm. Then I started getting emails, and I knew I wasnt crazy. Always good to know its not in your head ;)

  8. Glad you're OK. I wonder if you're proximity to the shore had something to do with not feeling the earthquake. Too much sand to tone it down??? I talked to my sister in outside DC and she said it was amazing and unmistakable. None of that "Was that just an earthquake?" business- it was obvious what it was.
And yeah, the mayhem guy... I do think my favorite is the teenage girl driver one! Maybe because I've got a teenage girl driver.
Oh, and I say kick Irene to the curb. She's not welcome.

  9. Goodness what have your done to deserve all these disasters? Glad to hear the earthquake wasn't a problem. Hopefully the aftershocks will be equally so.
Now you just need Irene to blow away out into the ocean and miss you entirely.

  10. Well, thank goodness! I was off line all day, so of course I worried about all of you on the East Coast. I'm happy you didn't even feel it, now do the same with the upcoming hurricane too, m-kay?

  12. Isn't that the weirdest? You were practically right over it and I am hundreds of miles north and we felt it! Of course, I wasn't in bare feet... We'll still need a lot of reassurance that you all are okay once Irene comes to visit. You know how we worry.

  13. Erin, do the ships get out of the area or will they tough it out?

  14. So glad you're ok, and we all hope that Irene misses you too. I don't know of anyone better prepared than you are.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's tickled by that mayhem guy. He just seems to take such joy in all that he does. He reminds me of a young scout I had in my Boy Scout Troop, who was always in trouble but you still had to love him. He's grown up now with 4 daughters, and a son who's just like he was. Payback is entirely fair, in his case, and he acknowledges the fairness of it too, says, I guess I deserve this! Be safe.

  17. I didn't feel it either, of course I am waaay up the coast. But my house is movin' and shakin' all day long thanks to rambunctious kids and dogs. I hope Irene is kind to you, Whole Foods was jammin in Providence last night, must be talk of the approaching weather. I can only imagine how hectic it is down your way right now. I will be thinking of you!! :) (PS- your beans are starting to ripen, you have no idea how happy they have made me.)
