GOT SNOW?

I'm glad we haven't left for our trip to Minnesota yet!

My brother sent me these photos of his house this morning in Saint Paul, Minnesota...

Winter lovers, rejoice!  (and then get to work!)  I'm sure there would be a run on ibuprofen for sore backs today, if only they could get to the stores.

This one is my favorite!

I must admit, I'm feeling quite homesick right about now :)

And for those that haven't seen the collapse of the Metrodome roof yet caught on video, here it is...

GOT SNOW?

  1. Wow, I'm glad it didn't snow that much the time I drove to St. Paul right before Christmas!

  2. Wow-scary collapse--I wouldn't want to be the one filming that-I'd be scared to death!

Love the snow-clogged street pic. My road is like that (they don't plow on weekends). We've only seen 2 cars today, and neither one made it up the hill.

  3. There is absolutely no need for all of that snow. ;)

It's been flurrying here all day and the kids are just going nuts. This is GA, for goodness sake. We don't have flurries in December!

  4. We heard that the game they had scheduled for the Metrodome tonight was postponed to TOMORROW night. Looks like a pretty big problem to fix to have it done by tomorrow night!

Did your brother say how many inches of snow they received?

  5. No way! First the pictures your bro sent...whoa! If I didn't know any better they look like some old 70's weather footage! That is amazing!

And the collapse! Good thing it was empty. That would be horrible! Hope it clears out for your travels, comes again while you are there and then magically goes away again for the ride home!!

  6. Ha! "no need for all of that snow"... that made me laugh, you are so right! Minnesotans must have been singing "White Christmas" a wee bit too loudly for Mother Nature :)

My brother said whenever a car would get unstuck and stomp on the pedal to get out the neighbors were applauding, and snowmobiles out on the city streets, guess the police have more important things to do than try to keep Minnesotans off their snow machines in the city limits LOL.

Last I heard was that we (the Vikings) may be playing in Detroit tomorrow night? I heard anywhere from 16-18 inches at my mom and dad's to 20-22" up in the Twin Cities where my brother is at, apparently pretty hard to measure because of the wind and drifting.

APG, I was thinking the same thing, this seemed to be a standard winter back in the 70's for us, but anymore, I can't promise my kids that they will be able to sled at Grandma's... not a problem this year I guess!

Can't lie, I am getting EXCITED for our trip! My parents will just hand us shovels and say "good thing you were so excited to get here, now go get our car out!"

  7. Oh my I'd love to have that snow! Right now we have meltings piles of snow and possibly rain. Give me snow over rain any day.

Scary roof collapse. I hope no one was injured.

  8. Those Vikings were stuck right her in KC due to that storm! We ended up with a light dusting and, of course, ice. yuck! I love the snow, but hate that ice! We are expected to get more icy rain this week. fun.

  9. Oh My Macaroons! That is a lot of snow! Wow. and Wow. Is it usually like that in Minnesota? Poor Metrodome! That is terrible and scary.

  10. Oh boy, I haven't seen that much snow since we had a storm on Valentine's Day in 2007. And I remember people digging their cars out like that too. Except, they plowed the roads, so cars were buried! And in Syracuse, you have to move your car to the other side of the road at 6pm, so people were frantically trying to dig them out!

That collapse is crazy! Our dome at Syracuse University is the same construction and they do all kinds of stuff during the winter to keep that from happening. And they've even offered the Metrodome the materials they need to fix their roof. Although, I don't see that getting fixed any time soon!

  11. Like Ribbit said, we've had flurries here in Georgia, and that is plenty for us! If anything sticks on the roads, we are all doomed. There are no machines to clear the roads, no salt spreaders, just crazy Southern drivers determined to keep on driving! Glad you are going someplace that is PREPARED for snow.

  12. It looks nice from afar doesn't it! LOL. Hopefully, we won't see too many storms like this this year.
