No School!
The kids got to try out their new duds for our trip to Minnesota. It went like this, I threw the snowpants on the couch and their new boots on the floor and told them to get dressed, all the while I'm on the phone with BFF and not really paying much attention to them. Finn starts crying and says he can't get his boots on. While I'm showing them the fine art of pulling down the gaiter over the boots, I notice bare skin... "where's your pants, Finn?" Loch says "they're over there"... both kids took OFF their jeans to put on their snowpants LOL! So I told BFF I had to go and gave them the rundown on winter dressing 101. I actually said "you better pay attention, what are you going to do when we get home"?
To which Loch says "we are home"! Wow I keep forgetting that "I" am from Minnesota, but my kids are Virginians through and through! We had to have a sit-down and go through all the gear and the correct order to put it all on LOL!
FUN!
I threw a plastic snow shovel out the front door and they both yelled "YAY!"
Obviously they haven't been notified that this is work...
I promptly took the shovel away when they were done so nobody will steal it - we appear to be the only one on the street with one!
After 2 hours of play, what's next? Of course, a round of hot chocolate!
Fun is done, now we are having freezing rain and I keep peeking out at the street light to look at the build up on the power lines. One outage that only lasted about 3 minutes, otherwise I'm hoping for the best!
It looks lovely! Well other then the burst pipe flood from the other post.
ReplyDeleteWow, looks like you're really getting the weather! Ask me if we've had any snow in over a week or so. Nope. I think everywhere else in the nation (including southern Minnesota) is getting snow. But us? Nooooo. Grump, grumble, growl.
ReplyDeleteIt's cute that the boys thought they were just switching one pair of pants for another when they put on their snow pants. Get them to Minnesota quick before it's too late!
You've got a good snow shoveler there. Unpaid child labor pays off again!
Good thing you straightened them out! Imagine the cold draft going straight to their bare nekked little hiney's! On second thought, they'd never do THAT again!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had fun and they learned the fine art of shoveling! We had only 1.5 today, but it was all good and pretty!
Oh boy, your kids are so funny! And so are you, thinking someone would steal the shovel!
ReplyDeleteYou better get those kids in the snow more often. They don't know what they are missing! (Well, maybe they do now!)
Y'all are gonna have such a great Christmas in Minnesota!
ReplyDeleteFantastic snow! I bet the boys had fun. We had a two hour delay which really messed things up, but there was no snow here, only ice.
ReplyDeleteOh my, I was in shorts and T-shirt Monday! It did cool down to long sleeve weather yesterday though. I'm always wishing I were home for the holidays, but then I see the snow and imagine the cold and wonder if I'm crazy to not want to be here in all the warmth. That hot chocolate has me drooling. Even though I'm definitely not feeling the chill, I think I'll go make myself a cup!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to be back on line....I missed your little guys.
Ha-too cute. Though I guess we wouldn't assume they would know to leave the jeans on! Ah, layering. Don and I always joke that just getting ready to go out to snowmobile or ski is a job in itself. Layer. Layer. Layer. Cripes, by the time you're ready, you're exhausted!
ReplyDeleteSometimes my little guy gets down to his skivvies when sporting his snow pants. Too many layers drive him nuts, most years we find a happy medium with long underwear.
ReplyDeleteHoping you didn't lose power from all the ice!
Hope the lines pulled through. What freakish weather for VA. I really wish my kiddos were happy when presented with a snow shovel! LOL!

Wait....the kids had a snow day??? But there's hardly any snow on the ground! Our kids don't get a snow day up here unless there's a over a foot of snow.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure shoveling the snow was so exciting for them. Hopefully they still feel that way 5 years from now.
:-) Not sure if I've posted much here, I think I mostly lurk, but I'm up in NW Iowa and we got a lot of the same snow MN got. It's been insane.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you'll have your hubby home for x-mas. My brother is shipping out with the Marines in Jan (2nd deployment) and won't make it home for the holidays. :-(
Anyway, enjoy the holidays. Travel safely! If you get stuck halfway, you might be in my area, I'll come dig you out. :-D
Wow, they liked shoveling? LOL. Good kids!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a goodly amount of snow for VA BCH. We got some of it yesterday...just enough to make the roads treacherous for a few hours.
ReplyDeleteLet see, deployment romantic....I don't think so. Hope your homecoming is all you anticipate. Merry Christmas, Erin.
I see little kids shoveling snow all the time around the neighborhood - there must be an age where they think it's no longer "fun," but you are probably still safe for a few more years. :)
ReplyDeleteMy sister sent me some heavy duty Sorel snow boots and I thought of you and your post from a while ago!
HAPPY HOMECOMING! I saw the news at WAVY.
