MY FIRST PAIR OF KNITTED SOCKS!

If you are a knitter, you know what a momentous occasion this is!

I have a long way to go on technique, but at least my feet will be warm while I finesse it!

Finished them just in time - girls wine & knit night is at my house in 1 hour! I wanted to start something easy so the wine won't interfere LOL. I am feeling very lucky to have a girl's night 2 weeks in a row - even if it is the first time since hubby left in May. Figures, we get in the swing of things now that they are close to turning the boat around. :)

  2. A great, big congratulations to you! Socks are NOT easy and a lot of knitters wait and wait to give them a go. Sort of like when I was afraid to do cables. I avoided them like the plague and then when I finally got up the nerve to do them, it was like . . . that's it?? That's all there is to doing cables?? Guess it just proves that ignorance is bliss. I.e, nobody told her it couldn't be done so she went ahead and did it.

    Nice job, Girlie!

  6. SEE!! SEE!!! And you said it couldn't be done. Look how far you've come.

BTW, wine enhances the creativity. All of those dropped and added stitches...creativity, I tell you. Sheer creativity.

  8. Wow those look fantastic! Are you sure those are your first pair?
I've pulled my hat out twice now. I think I'll give up on starting from the top and using the circle needles. I think I'll attempt starting from the bottom and using 4 needles now. It has to be easier that way or I'm giving up!

  9. Woo hoo -- turning heels and all. I love the toe contrasts. You'd think, with all that I love knitted socks so much, I'd make more. . . but I don't! Many congratulations.

  11. Great job! I love sock knitting - I get something complex enough to sustain my interest without having it take so long that I find something *else* that I Must Knit Right Now before I'm done! That said, I do usually have two or three different pairs of socks going at the same time :)

  13. Way cool. I'm working toward the goal of socks, just not there yet. I need to take some lessons, as I seem to have reached a dead end in my knitting. Do you have a good CD or book that you use? I need help! Those socks look sooooo warm. Just what I need for these cold wooden floors in the winter.

  14. Sorry I'm so late on replying to comments, I have been a little obsessive with this sock thing! Thank you all so much for your compliments! I'm still a little shocked that I made socks..... :)

Lorie, I learned out of a book, actually one of those little 3.95 sock pamphlets you find at a craft chain store, but after the first I went straight to the pretty big books at the libary. But I learn better from a book, my friend learns better visually and she has had a lot of luck the past week with youTube videos

  15. Ahhh, that's a great idea. I seem to get just so far with a book. Guess, like your friend, I am a visual learner. I will give utube a try. Great idea Erin, thanks.
