Where does the time go?

With hubby deploying in less than a month, I honestly haven't been able to fit blogging into my day lately, but I'm still here! Some random pics from the past few days:

Yes, that's TWO dogs... can you find them? The blend together like this every evening, apparently they have plenty of time to relax!

We don't have time to fit a camping trip in before daddy leaves, so when he put a brisket on the smoker early Saturday morning, I woke them up and fed them breakfast outside on a cool morning for a backyard camping simulation, daddy even smeared charcoal wood chips on their faces for camp-dirt effect.

We were able to harvest a salad dinner Saturday evening, I pulled a few baby radishes out since in the absence of fresh tomatoes I needed a little color! The salads were topped with grilled chicken, and the kids didn't complain - score! Of course we aren't used to our summer diet yet so we were hungry again in a few hours!

What's this? A time out? I should probably be blogging right about then, but I couldn't resist lounging with my girls for a few minutes.

Gotta run now, seedlings are calling - and weeds, and oil spray for the apple trees, and birdfeeders, seed sowing, watering, party planning, swim lessons, laundry, and oh yeah- I have to take care of my kids somewhere in there!

  1. The garden is already looking so colorful behind you and the girls, no wonder you a Mommy time-out!

Do you use the dormant oil spray year-round then?

  2. Sounds like a busy time! I am amazed that your dogs will get into the hammock. Mine are too lazy(!) to get up in there. They just plop down anyplace that seems convenient to them (regardless of whether its convenient for the rest of us).

  4. I'm so dog-envious I can hardly stand it. Rest is important, especially since you know you're going to be soloing soon.

  5. Kelly, I only spray during the growing season, and even then I don't always remember! agwh, I think maybe their breed contributes to their willingness to get in the hammock, they even climb into the kids fort and onto the top bunk bed, lol! Herding dogs definitely "ain't scared"! Dani, I didn't even get the chance to put my feet up, lol, see - they are still on the ground! Stefaneener, dog envy, hmmm.... watch out for a box in the mail with holes poked all over for air, LOL!

  6. What fun to have a camp-out breakfast for your kids! When I think of how long your husband is going to be gone . . . hard enough for you but your boys will have grown so much by the time he gets home. Military wives deserve so much more credit than they get for the extreme sacrifices they make. Kudos to you, kiddo!

  7. How long will hubby be away for? It must be really difficult to away from him for extended periods. I don't know how you do it. You're a stronger person than I'd ever be.

On a lighter note, how cute are those kids! Don't you just wanna bite those cheeks?

  8. Those pups are just too cute. The boys, also. It's so nice you guys can do so many family things while he's around. I think the majority of us take the time for granted and fall into a rut.

  9. I'm envious that you already have things from the garden...we're a few weeks off yet.

Feel free to link today for the kinderGARDENS contest so we can all come visit.

Although with hubby leaving soon my might not be up for visitors. Thanks him for me...my nephew just finished boot camp with the Marines! Kim
