Clotheslines and Dogs

I've been working inside the house most of the day, but thought you might enjoy this:

A Clothesline!

The neighbors in the new condos behind me are going to love this when they get home tonight and look out their window, heeheehee! That's what they get for moving into an area that has no homeowner's associations (me laughing hysterically) and still is somewhat of a rural edge to suburbia.

The reality is that I shouldn't be doing this until the pollen stops flying, but it was nice and breezy out today and I just happened to be in the midst of 5 loads of laundry, I couldn't resist at least putting it up. Finnegan thought is was loads of fun hanging his "woobie" on the line!

I wanted it close to the house, but in reality I think it will have to be relocated further out into the yard for more space (and closer to the condos, tee hee!).

Lastly, I leave you with our beloved Aussie girl, Marley snoozing with her stuffed sheep. Poor dog needs some real sheep, what's an urban herder to do? (hmmm, bite the ankles of children?) Good thing she loves Frisbees just as much!

Afterthought: I wonder if I am on some kind of "suburban homesteader watch list" yet? If not, I probably will be soon with the addition of my eyesore clothesline! I still entertain the idea of playing chicken noises over the ipod speakers outside to see if anyone calls the city... kind of a little stealthy recon/intel gathering mission...

  1. Erin - you crack me up! If it weren't for pollen and the pain-in-the-you-know-what HOA, my clothes would be on a clothes line too! I don't think it's an eyesore at all - but the neighbors might have something to say if you hang your panties on the clothesline next time! ;-)

And as for the recon mission - I think it's a great idea. You gotta test the waters before you dive in, right?

  2. Condo dwellers be damned! I love my clothesline :) There's nothing better than the smell of sun-dried clothes. You go girl!
And Marley -- too cute! Henry has an orange hippo toy that he sleeps/plays with. At least Marley has got the right idea of what animals should be herded :)

  3. I have no idea why it has become such a "redneck" thing to hang clothes outside. Nothing smells like sun-dried laundry, no matter what the dryer sheet commercials tell you!
And what could be more earth-friendly and ecologically sound, I ask you? Not to mention free...

  6. You are just too much! Look out or you, too, will be asked to give a presentation about "what are you people doing out there?" I do think people around here think we're certifiable!

  7. I know I've probably been in the woods too long, but for the life of me I just don't get the "no clothesline" ruling of some neighborhoods! How stoopid have we become in today's society?

P.S. You are such a wild rebel, Erin.

  9. Update: kids took a bath last night and toweled off... I asked them "what did you think of those towels?", Loch replied "What did you DO to them? They're CRUNCHY!" LOL... dried in the sunshine and especially crunched up for them! Mama Pea, "been in the woods too long".... that had me laughing! Katidids, welcome! I see that you knit, I will have to pop over to your blog and get some inspiration!

  10. I love clothes lines! We have one too. There's nothing fresher than clothes dried outside.

  11. Oh man, if you are, we all are. I want an aussie badly. Next year, next year, next year. The neighbors might be mad green people, you never know. They might love their own laundry line or hanging system!

Enjoy your weather. I had a nightmare that we had your pollen.

  12. Erin - you want some covert chickens? A clandestine coop? Join those of us with hens on the down-low! Just put them in an enclosed run and plant some tall shrubs around them and don't tell a soul - LOL.

I wish we could do line-dried clothes. I have off-the-charts allergies and no matter what time of year something is blooming in FL. I sniffle and sneeze so much and I have to shower before bed just to be pollen-free for sleeping.

Love the pic of Marley! Great shot!!

  13. Erin I long to have clothes out on the line, but the pollens here are so bad and I developed allergies to some of them. You naughty thing! lol

    Have a wonderful weekend!
