I have had several people ask for my laundry detergent recipe recently, so I am just going to link it here again! Happy Laundering!
**note! Step 3 is missing the key ingredient water!! It should read "mix 6 cups of water with the soap to melt"
(for some reason, I can't edit the original post from so far back)
Powder Variation:
** To make powdered detergent, it's super easy! Mix 1 cup grated soap (Zote or similar), 1/2 cup Washing Soda, 1/2 cup Borax... I usually triple this recipe so it will last longer, and have been known to add 1/2 cup Oxyclean if I have it handy. The liquid recipe makes more, but when you need it quickly, nothing beats the powder since you can whip it up in less than 10 minutes and won't be tempted to buy it!
Thanks Erin. :)
ReplyDeleteChicken Mama (my dear daughter) has been making your liquid laundry detergent since you posted the recipe and she supplies me with all I need. We both LOVE it and are so happy you shared the ingredients with the rest of us.
ReplyDeleteMama Pea,so nice to say! There seems to be alot of recipes out there on the internet and they all are probably good since they seem like they all use the same ingredients, every now and then I have to tweak the water to make it the right consistency but I love the cheap cost and love how it makes my HE washer seals clean (those new front loading washers get soooo nasty!)
ReplyDeleteI never even knew that you could make your own detergent. Thanks for the recipe! This sounds intriguing.
ReplyDeleteHappy Earth Day!
Oh, thank you! Looking forward to giving this a try in a month or so when my current detergent runs out...
