Learned a new word today: "Femivore"!

Chicks with Chicks?!!!

Copied from the New York Times Magazine dated 3-11-10, interesting, and I guess this would include me since I am a stay at home mom whose family averages the same income as quoted! Not sure if I want to refer to myself as a Femivore yet, it sounds a tad angry man-hater-ish, lol... but it's better than SAHM! Now I understand my pull towards chickens!

  1. This is a great article! Although, I have to admit that when I saw the term "femivore", I thought to myself "There are actually people out there who will only eat female animals?". This article did make me feel slightly validated.. even though I work out of the home as well, I have what seems to be a very strange passion for feeding my family the freshest, safest, tastiest food I can. In this day in age, it's so common for people to chose convenience over quality and to scoff at me for my choices.. It's a nice confirmation to see that there is a growing number of like-minded people out there!

  2. Interesting. I just wonder when/if all of this will fade from fashion and it will be back to cheap convenience. There are some woman who would raise food no matter the trends, but chicken coops seem to be the new wine cellar.

Would chickens have stayed all the rage when the bird flu was rampant in countries that share close quarters with fowl? These are just questions I often mull over, but it is probably because my husband has a firm "NO!" when it comes to chickens so the kids and I appreciate reading and looking at everyone else's. I think chickens rock, more power to the femivores.
