Good enough to share...

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!" -unknown author

  1. I've seen this quote before but not with the accompanying picture which definitely adds something to it! Although she looks much too good have a "body thoroughly used up, totally worn out." Gimme another glass of wine and I'll pose for a picture that would be a MUCH better illustration!

  2. I thought this was a site about gardening. The picture and comments makes me decide to not visit your blog again!

  3. Mama Pea, I put the photo in there, the post looked so bare without one since I'm such a camera junkie! I couldn't find any decent depictions, of course when I did a search for public domain photos of "used up women" there was nothing there appropriate for viewing LOL, so I searched "Death by Chocolate" instead :)

Anonymous, sorry I failed you. I would be boring indeed if my life only revolved around my garden, good luck in your search, there's a million blogs out there, you'll find one you like!

  4. I've heard that one before but still love it. I'm with Mama Pea- I'm definitely falling into the all used up category! But I still may go for another glass of wine. And Karl was generous enough to share some chocolate from his Halloween stash (yes, they still have candy left!). Life is good.
I'm sorry Anonymous was so put off. I hope they don't visit me. I would be a real let down!!

  5. Seriously? Anonymous had to be a man. Chocolate porn will keep any woman worth her weight coming back over and over and over and over and over and over.

Maybe weight and chocolate together didn't make such a good partnership, but you know what I meant.

Gardening is good and all, but we're people too, and chocolate is ambrosia, so it's all good. Kudos to you for publishing the comment regardless.

  6. Hahhaa! That is funny!

Every gardener needs a little comic relief from time to time!

Either that or a VERY good enima...to help get the the corn cobs out of our butts after we've picked them, shucked them, canned them! Maybe Anonymous forgot to pull the cob out???

  7. haha you all make me laugh! I was planning on doing a "state of the garden" address tomorrow, but now it feels so "staged" LOL! Maybe anonymous doesn't have that season we call "winter"! Maybe I should subject you to photos of the same broccoli stem developing day after day... LOL

  10. Love the post Erin!! I agree that she looks too good for the quote. I think that YOU should pose for a picture (just like that one) after one of your long stressful days and post it!! Too bad for Anonymous and his/her lack of ..... I don't know...maybe a personality??? I say, if you don't like what someone posts....Go Away and keep your comments to yourself!! We love you and all of your posts!!

I was so posting about growing broccoli stems today.

  14. Does being a beer drinker count--instead of wine?
    :)

And Anon should have had MY mother--"If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"! She would have bitch-slapped him!
    :D

  15. Ribbit, go for it! I'm going to drag my butt out there too today! It's national "watch the broccoli grow for anonymous gardeners day"! Pea Pod measurements are good, too!

Sue, HA of course it counts! I think the grin on your face at the end is what counts, no matter how it got there! AND... that's what MY mother always told us too!!
