A military spouse's take on blooming where you are planted. I continue to pretend I am living on my dream farm while in reality, I live on a military base, gardening in a plot alongside a Navy flightline, with half of my homesteading supplies perpetually packed in boxes and have a habit of being overly involved in every community we live in. I'm a busy mom to 2 boys and a spouse to a Navy sailor soon nearing retirement. I love this chaotic life wouldn't trade it for anything!

Thought of you last night - did you catch the "tribute to Capt Phil Harris" on TV last night? They did a great job, he certainly had an interesting life!
Oh, you managed to capture on your camera something that would have almost paralyzed with disgust. And actually did, on one occasion. I saw four or five of them on my basil a few weeks ago, all on top of each other, maybe like a insect version of group orgy? Eek. It would have made for a "good" picture, but I couldn't get rid of them fast enough.
Thyme2Garden, aren't they just grosser than gross LOL? I have (had, they are almost gone now) hundreds on the grapevines. The only good thing is that the grapes are so irresistible to them they leave everything else alone in my yard now, even my dwarf fruit trees are completely unaffected. So, I say plant sacrificial grapes away from the main garden, you will still have them, but instead of all over your garden, they will be in their own designated "brothel/house of ill repute"!
The Japanese Beetle fornicating and defecating is really just gross isn't it?

That's pretty gross Erin. Thank goodness I haven't seen any in my garden so far this year. The cucumber beetle look rather cute compared to them.
