Dodging responsibility!

I have a ton of things I'm supposed to be doing... and someday I'll update you on the madness, but for today - I'm not doing a darned thing on that list.

That's because other than the fact that my yard and garden are a complete mess in the photo below, look at that sun!  It's been raining for days, but it's now clearing up, the kids are at school, and it's already 62ยบ here at 9:30 a.m.

I'm going to head out there and clean a few beds up and plant something, anything!  Heck, with the weather we haven't been having this winter, I may throw caution to the wind along with some zinnia seed!  Ha, more likely spinach and greens, but if the mood strikes it might be a fun experiment this year.

Still no Baker Creek, but thankfully I have a stash and I'm sure I can find something in there!

Now the hard part is trying not to think about what I'm pushing aside in order to go out and play in the garden, but I keep reminding myself that it IS what I love to do most, and I need to get back in touch with it, the weather has been so warm this year I wouldn't be surprised to find a thriving little community of Squash Bugs wintered over out there having set up their own commune, I better go...!  Unless you are the school nurse and my kid is throwing up money, don't call LOL!

  3. Well you know as soon as you plant those seeds, the great blizzard of 2012 will roll in. It always does.

  4. It is good to dream about what to grow..., what to do, which section to start first....

  5. Have a great day in your garden. It will be many months before I can plant anything so I'll have to live vicariously through you till then.

  6. I had to chuckle when you mentioned that your garden is a mess. Wow, If that's a mess, I hate to think what you would call my yard!
Regardless- enjoy the day and loose yourself in the sun and smell of soil. Mmmm.....

  7. You are right, with this mild winter you might as well plant something. I've got spinach still in the ground here with no cold frame or anything. I may start all my seeds this next week just in case we have an early hot summer. YUCK! Have fun playing in the yard!

  8. There are always tasks to do, but gardens have only so many windows of possibility. Your priorities are probably in a good place.
What's the worst a zinna seed could do? I don't know how you guys garden, the bugs would make me insane.

  9. You are all such garden enablers LOL, not one of you said "nope, you should clean your house/freshen up your blog header/make dinner/do laundry" LOL! It was divine out there today, most of the yard is still a mess, but my center garden with 4 raised beds are all ready for something, peas I'm guessing! The rest of the garden will come soon enough, but the temps have dipped again, foggy and will only be high 30's tomorrow, it was fun while it lasted :)

  10. I just looked at the photo I posted and had to laugh that none of you questioned why there is a random kayak paddle in the gravel, LOL looks like I am truly surrounded by real peers who regularly have weird items strewn about hahaha!

  11. I figure you have two boys so the kayak paddle makes perfect sense to me.

  12. Hi Erin! I have tried to comment since your Jan. 17th. post about seed catalogs but couldn't for some reason. I just wanted to rub it in that I have had my Baker Creek catalog for at least a month! Sort of ironic seeing as how it was you that turned me on to Baker Creek in the first place. You will get to plant before me though.

  13. Love it! I thinking I'm always pushing the limit and taking a chance on planting something too early. I figure it it's too cold it'll just take longer grow! Of course I have had those late freezes bite me in the you know what! Feels good to get out there doesn't it?

Nice blog! I'll be stopping back by!

  14. Your garden is neat and organized. I wish mine look half as good as yours. I love to take chances with mother nature, some times I win, most of the time she does. Since I usually have seeds leftover I sow some early, if possible, just in case it is my turn to win.

  15. Spiderjohn, still don't have the catalog, looks like I'll be web surfing their site, not the same, sadly!
