Blast from the past...

It's just stupid-hot, and this weekend will be even worse, we won't even guess at the heat index, but the dewpoint is at 80.  I feel like dementia is setting in.

The weather is hot enough that this post from last year is just as valid today!  I'm always looking for a good ol' redneck way to stay cool.  Thinking of sitting in a plastic kiddie pool today in the driveway with an ice cold bottle of Boone's Farm (just to complete the image) - somehow I think my kids are old enough now that they would be mortified LOL!

Anyone else getting "the crazies" in these temps?  My brain cells seem to be dying off with every degree the temp climbs.  I surfed for some new funnies to go with the old ones :)

What are you doing to stay cool?

  1. We're dancing in the street today! It only made it to 99 and the dew point is down to 72! You wouldn't think that that was something to celebrate....

  2. Cool, what is cool? I think 94 degrees would be cool about now. Maybe a cayanne pepper would be cooling about now. And we get a least another week of this.

  4. It's been cooler here than there, but I grew up in Oklahoma without AC. My experience is that heat slows people down even more than it slows down tomato-pollination!

  5. It's cool and rainy here but this weekend it's supposed to heat up. I know I just stay inside with the a/c up when it gets hot. If I have to be outside I wear one of those gel ties. You soak it in cool water and the gel inside the tie soaks up the water. You put it around your neck and it does help keep you cool for a bit.

And if all else fails I make the husband put up the pool and we all float around in that.

I hope the weather breaks for you soon and it gets down to a more civilized temperature

  6. I don't know how you all do it. When I saw that the paper had forecast morning fog again, I did my happy dance. Good thoughts headed your way.

  7. Our heat broke yesterday. It was 90, yes, but the friggin humidity left. HOORAY. I am tired of laying in a puddle of sweat at night. I know what you mean about brain fry. At least you have air--I'd have been cleaning or sorting or something instead of just sitting PERFECTLY STILL under the fan. And sweating . And sweating. And sweating.......

  8. I think that I'm about ready to go hang out with those guys in your home state!

  9. Taking the grandkids to a water park today. That ought to give us a break. This time I'm not watching from the sidelines, but diving right in with them. Close supervision, that's the ticket!

  10. HA! Those pictures are hilarious!! The popcorn is my favorite. Too funny! We are staying inside during peak hours. That's no fun either.

Lay in the pool anyway. It's your job to scar your kids brains! :o)
