Yesterday was the official end of hurricane season for us, and apparently we are celebrating with some very wild weather!  The storm that has been on the news is scheduled to come through here starting in about 2 hours, so I'll be turning off the computer to save it from any lightning strikes and power surges so I figured I'd better check in now!

Flood warnings, tornado warnings, high winds, rain - what's the difference hurricane season or not LOL?

We hit the high of 68º (odd) at 6 am and we are supposed to drop like a rock into the upper 30's by the end of the day, and we had a hard freeze 2 nights ago... all this weather is not helping my kids, I had a sick kid home yesterday and the other woke up last night with a crouplike sounding cough.  We sat outside on the front steps in the middle of the night in the 65º damp air and it seemed to help so that's probably what it is, he's prone to it.  I'll keep him home today.

I'll leave you with a photo of our tv screen last night...

It's nice to know that things I enjoyed as a kid are still just as entertaining for kids today!

I know many of you dealt with this crazy weather system moving through, hope it left your homes & gardens intact in its wake!

  1. We are also having some wild weather here today. It is 60 degrees outside right now with high winds and rain! I just ran outside and added a couple of bricks to the cold frame tops...I don't want to take the chance that the latches won't hold them down with such high winds! It is supposed to be 25 degrees by tomorrow morning!

  2. Hope everything bodes well for you! After your last scare, I always worry now!

Sorry to hear you got the sickies again! Hope they feel better soon! Vicks Vapo and a nice wool scarf around the neck? Handmade maybe?

  3. Yes, raining here too. So far no wind, but will have to keep an eye on my raised beds covers, just in case. Like Robin, may have to run out and throw some more weight on so the wind doesn't blow the plastic off. Makes me wonder what the winter will be like...

The Grinch was one of my favorites. Can't wait for grands so I have someone to watch the holiday toons with.

Hope the little men are feeling better real soon.

  5. Hope this 'non-hurricane season storm' passes you by without any problems and that the kids feel better soon!

Weird crazy weather here (NY) too! WILD winds, pounding steady rain, mud everywhere and in the 60's... Go figure, lol

    Will be thinking of you

  6. The weather was crazy here yesterday as well. It had rained a lot during the night and in the morning it was like a monsoon. The schools started two hours later than normal because several roads were flooded. Of course the girls were happy about this, lounging around in their Pj's a little longer...

  7. Lots of ice outside for us today. Hubby just about went down carrying two buckets of water, but managed to save himself AND the water.

Hoping the weather does you no harm. You don't need a situation where you're worrying about the weather and the boys' health.

How can your fall garden manage to produce ANYTHING with this kind of crazy weather??!

  9. Wow! It is bad all over the place! I hope you and the boys are okay. This crazy weather doesn't help respiratory worries. Those croupy coughs are awful and take all the stuffing out of you. Bundle up and stay warm and safe.

  10. The storms were bad here also. THere was a tornado about 4 miles from the school almost as soon as we released. There's about 56 homes that were destroyed and a plant nursery. It was really scary.

  13. Well, we really got off easy! Not much here except a few scattered showers and high winds... I know those of you in the northeast probably got a lot of the precip though...

Hi Faye & Jen! I'm not usually so lame with the blogging, I really struggle in the winter LOL!
