A military spouse's take on blooming where you are planted. I continue to pretend I am living on my dream farm while in reality, I live on a military base, gardening in a plot alongside a Navy flightline, with half of my homesteading supplies perpetually packed in boxes and have a habit of being overly involved in every community we live in. I'm a busy mom to 2 boys and a spouse to a Navy sailor soon nearing retirement. I love this chaotic life wouldn't trade it for anything!

Dove update...
can you believe it? That's all I've got for now...
During one of our recent trips to the beach the Mama and Papa birds (that nest in the dunes) kept running out in front of us during our walk...they were doing the "look at me, look at me- I have a hurt wing" dance in an effort to distract us from their nearby young. I am always amazed by the natural instincts of most creatures. Except humans. Go figure.
Kelly, you aren't kidding - the nightly news constantly reminds us that not everyone has that instinct, sadly.
Funny thing this morning, I was watering the "fenced-garden", it's just a 3 ft tall split rail with chicken wire garden - and I saw something running through the mulch... it was baby dove! Mama must have put her in there like a playpen, nice thinking since the dogs don't go in there! She was sitting in the shade under the pepper plants and I think Mama was off foraging... I put a little makeshift birdbath out of a plant saucer in there and left them to their oasis!

Nothing like a slow news day in the garden, huh?

Your doves are lucky.
It's nice to have baby birds in the yard!
