A military spouse's take on blooming where you are planted. I continue to pretend I am living on my dream farm while in reality, I live on a military base, gardening in a plot alongside a Navy flightline, with half of my homesteading supplies perpetually packed in boxes and have a habit of being overly involved in every community we live in. I'm a busy mom to 2 boys and a spouse to a Navy sailor soon nearing retirement. I love this chaotic life wouldn't trade it for anything!

Motivational Monday!
Why is it that we always think that if we could just get this current list of chores done, there will be time to relax? It never ends for me, but for the kids, summer is good! Here's a pic from last summer, kids enjoying. I am sure I was covered in sweat and dirt from working when I took this, and the kids were probably laughing at all my self-imposed busyness.

Oh my, they sure look like they are having a great time - and I'm completely jealous!!
ReplyDelete"Why is it that we always think that if we could just get this current list of chores done, there will be time to relax?" This is so me. Why, just on Saturday morning after I had unloaded the dishwasher, mopped the floors, sorted and started the laundry, and made a minute-by-minute schedule of the days ahead (by 8am) my husband meandered downstairs and asked me why I insisted on starting chores so early when everyone just wants to relax.. I explained that there would be time for relaxing AFTER the chores were done. Guess what? It's Monday, and after 2 days of chores, they aren't all done AND I didn't have time to relax. There's always too much to do - guess I'll finally get to chill out when I'm dead. :-D
I see a Flamingo!! lol.
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome Erin. I love how creative you are.
I'm not ready for summer -- stop it!!
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, of course the kids don't get it. At least the garden chores are fun AND productive!
But it's important to remember to have fun too. I find it almost impossible when there's mess, though. Have to leave the house to have fun!
I so agree with Stefaneener. I have to leave home to relax and have fun. And I know that's very sad. Hubby keeps telling me we need to enjoy our home and learn to relax right here. But I think it's different for a man than a woman whose responsibility (let's face it, it still works that way) is the home/house and the functioning of it. It's so hard to relax and ignore all the things that NEVER ENDINGLY need to be done (and re-done) when they are staring at you and screaming.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Please kill the flamingo and give it a decent burial. I hate flamingos.
P.P.S. Gosh, I'm a cheerful little earful this morning. :o)
I know the only time I relax is when we are camping, and I guess that involves leaving home, lol! Although I am stressing the whole time until we leave since I always have to pack the car and make sure everyone has everythiing so we can leave the minute hubby gets home. No wonder he is always so relaxed - he pulls in the driveway, then proceeds to get into the car and sleep until we are there, where he then unloads kayak and grabs the fishing stuff that I PACKED , LOL.... someday I will figure it out! And Mama Pea THIS particular Flamingo has superpowers - during a no-nap for Finn day when he was 2 and very overtired, for $1.97 on clearance it shut him right up! He held it the whole shopping trip, and even though it is now bleached out and broken, he won't let me throw it away! I draw the line at putting them anywhere except the kids' play area, although every now and then someone will move it to make me crazy.
ReplyDeleteI love the Buffet/Parrot Head-esc pool area!
