Want Tattler Lids? Deal Alert!

Then the time is now!  Just a quick announcement I received from a Facebook friend that Tattler is offering a Labor Day special right now 10-30% off and free shipping.  The best deal looks to be the variety pack at $52.95 total includes 3 dozen regular mouth & 3 dozen wide mouth including bands with free shipping.  The going rate on Amazon is $10.50 a dozen so this deal brings it to a more reasonable $8.83 per dozen.  If you notice you save a few bucks getting this variety pack over the individual boxes.  I'm finally taking the plunge - Happy Tattling y'all!

 Can on, my friends!

  1. A great big HUGE thank you to you, Erin, for letting us know about the Tattler lid deal. Now, can I take the plunge and take advantage of it? I have been SO wavering . . . because of the expense and because I've read a couple of reviews of people really having trouble with them probably because of being unable to get that special "feel" of how much to tighten the lids down and when! At any rate, thanks again for the alert.

  2. Mama Pea, you betcha! I too have been on the fence about these for close to 2 years now, but I have made the jump and since around here I pay $4 for a dozen regular lids if I will break even in 2 seasons which isn't too bad as long as they are indeed truly reusable! I've heard good things, but of course most only have a year or so experience with them at this point. Fingers crossed :)

  3. Well, it's all in the timing. The budget won't take it this year -- but maybe it will be such a hit that they'll do it again next year! Thanks for the heads-up, Erin. I'll be interested to know how you like them.

    1. Susan, I will let you know about the lids, but I'm really interested to hear from anyone that is on their 3rd season of reusing them, time will tell!

  4. I've known about these for some time, but I haven't tried them yet. But lately, I've been having a problem sealing the jars properly in my pressure canner. (only 1 jar would seal each time!!) Maybe it's time to experiment with these lids...

    1. TS, I've never had an issue with normal lids in the pressure canner until this weekend when I did Apple Pie Filling, but that was my fault I think I filled them a tad too much, what a sticky mess :)

    2. I'm happy to report that my sealing problem is solved! I don't know how many lids I wasted till this day, but I think I can finally sit and relax about it. Apparently, my "finger-tip tight" was not tight enough. That's it. That was all it was... This is the kind of thing you can't learn from books. Your apple pie filling does indeed sound like a sticky mess! But sounds really yummy. I have to try that this year. I can't believe the apples are out already!

  5. I have used them for 2 years and have been getting more each year and will eventually phase out the metal lids. I remember using the zinc lids and these are processed the same way. I actually like them better as when I take the jars out of the processor and tighten them, I know they are sealed at that moment. The key is to not tighten them as much as some people tighten the metal lids when putting them in to process. I just clean off used ones and put them back in the box and they are ready to use again, they aren't rubber rings but some other material, rubber wouldn't last like these.

  6. Sunnybrook, I'm glad you are having success with them! I can't wait to try them, although by the time they get here (free shipping = slow boat from China LOL) my canning season might be over. I'll have to try doing some chili or something this winter with them.
