Sorry, kids!

As soon as the school bus gets here, I'm going to hear a lot of "oh, mo-ommmmm"!

Yes, it's that time of year again.

Simple math eluded me yet again this year, or is it that I choose to ignore the amount of real estate that "only 2 little flats" morphs into? The kids' stuff just got literally kicked to the other side of their room, and I stole their Lego table, nothing they haven't dealt with before, but square footage is precious here!

I'm only half way done with repotting ...

Is there a good reason for needing at least 32 tomatoes and at least 12 jalapeno plants among all the other?

Nope.

  1. I find that whenever math is involved with farm animals or vegetable gardens, all bets are off. :) Looks great!!! And you don't need a good reason for anything having to do with farm animals or vegetables either!

  2. I have been lucky to keep most of my seedlings in the garage...But I did move all of the flowers I started to the Living Room today. I only had to move my son's lizard, my husbands X-box stuff, and the toddlers toy box so I could put the plants by the window. All of their things ended up in the dining room. Ooops...I guess they will forgive me!

Your plants look great and I really like the shelves.

    1. Patty, I can't wait for you to get started either! I always love seeing what kind of tomatoes you can coax out of that rocky northern area, they looked pretty good last year.

  5. Yes, I think that you need each and every one of those plants! It won't be long before they are all in the ground. Although the little ones may not think so!

  6. Of course you need all those plants! Just think of it as taking care of your family in case the world crashes in. YOU will be able to feed your babies. (Ok, so you will feed your babies lots and lots of tomatoes and peppers, but still, they won't go hungry.)
Besides, I just planted 7 dozen tomatoes and 2 dozen peppers this weekend. Eeek, what will I do if they all come up?? Tomatoes anyone??

  8. I know you'll not let a single hot pepper go to waste around there!

  9. I still think you need a hot pepper intervention. Have you conveniently forgotten each pepper plant gives you 300-plus peppers?? ;o}

  10. Nice! They'll get over it, it won't be long before those babies are outside anyway! PS- definitely need all of those plants. If you've got the space, GROW 'EM!

  11. LOL! I wonder if they'll grow up with a bit of a grudge against seedlings? Hopefully not.
I agree, that you'll need all of those plants because one never knows what blight or the bugs are gonna do. And if you get a great harvest you can always give some away or can it yourself. I'm not sure if there is such a things as too much fresh grown veggies.

  12. Well, at least you might get some tomatoes and peppers. I planted a bunch of tomato plants last year and didn't get many tomatoes. Our weather was really weird in Las Vegas. Our weather here makes it hard to grow tomatoes because our winters are cold and summers super hot. We have very little time once the tomatoes go in the ground for them to set fruit. Last year our evening temps stayed cold for a long time so the flowers kept dropping. Then all my plants started turning yellow and dying. I think it was due to russet mites. Hopefully this year will be better.

  13. I'll take a couple pepper plants from you. The Girlz ate mine clear down to the ground.

  14. You a crazy Momma. ;) Do you always plant 32 tomatoes?

  15. Yes, there's a good reason! You can never have too many tomato and jalapeno plants! Canned tomatoes, homemade 'rotel,' tomato sauce, spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce, canned jalapeno slices, dried jalapenos, dried tomatoes, homemade tomato paste..........I can keep going! lol
