I know it's not Dec 21st yet...

I'm still here :)

I've been M.I.A. for about a week now and it isn't because I didn't want to sit down and blog, I've just been crazy busy here!  Kids, school activities, church activities, after school activities, plants.....arrrrrrgh!  I've also decided to join Judy of My Freezer is Full and get zombie-ready by exercising more often.  Lucky for me zombies look to be pretty slow :)  So far the exercising has consisted of long walks with the dogs and closet cleaning.

I'm still running like crazy, Finn has a school play this evening I have to get ready for, but here's a brief look at my past week in photos:

The girls at the start of our walk:

We've been walking several miles every morning down at the beach.  We have to get our dog time in here before they are banned because of tourist season.  Stupid laws :(

I spy, with my little eye...

an egret!

The neurotic dog thinks this bridge is okay, no gaps to see the water through LOL

Our turnaround point:

HA!  Take that you ankle chasers... 3-4 miles looks like a good stopping point for a herding dog, they were down for the rest of the day!

Finn had a birthday party down the street the past weekend, a little girl in his class.  I let him go by himself, Mr. Independent :)  (Of course I could see him the whole way though!)

Now the jungle... I need an intervention as usual.

Peppers...

Spilling onto the floor...

Check out this bargain - $20 and came with the plastic cover!

Of course it promptly fell over in the wind yesterday and smashed some of my tomatoes.

Lesson learned, I tied it to the deck railing today :)

We have had a pretty cold week, night temps in the 30's and days in the 50's curbed my hardening off for a few days, but I'm back at it again today.  I just wish the 35 mph winds would relax for awhile, but it's always so windy here.

During the cold spell I decided to clean closets and proceeded to empty them all out into a pretty good replica of Devil's Tower - then it got nice out and I didn't want to work in the house anymore.  Ugh... I need to finish that asap!

Another random post to come soon!

  1. Isn't walking fun? I am so addicted to it, I wish I had the time to do it every day. :-) Your plants look awesome by the way, so strong and healthy.

    1. Anke, I love walking, more now than ever since I have issues with my right knee. Walking doesn't bother it a bit though!

  2. Good heavens, your plants are half grown (Granny runs to hide her piddly little seedlings)! Laughing about the dog seeing water through the boards. My Dad was a railroad man, bridge supervisor. He had a dog who was raised on the railroad and took to crossing the trestles with ease. My dog, however, would go down into the canyon, swim the river, and up the other side. No way would he cross a railroad bridge!

    1. Gran, I don't know what's up with those tomatoes this year, I didn't even start them early, just the usual time. I think I'll be burying them REALLY deeply this year LOL! That's so funny about the dog swimming across instead of using the bridge!

  3. You grow healthier, bigger, more robust, knock-em-dead-beautiful seedlings than I have ever seen anywhere else in my life. Period. Geesh.

You sure do have lovely territory to take your walks in. And if the dogs don't start eating you out of house and home because of an increased appetite caused by all the exercise, it's great for them, too!

I was hoping to get to see a picture of the mess you made by pulling everything out of the closets . . . but no such luck! (Coward.) ;o)

    1. Mama Pea, well thank you! I didn't even pay the seedlings much attention this year so it goes to show you sometimes less pampering is better! I thought about taking a photo of the Devil's Tower but it was too late half of it was cleaned up LOL. "Cleaning Closets" isn't really what happened since I don't have any closets, but my "wall of shelves" behind my floor to ceiling curtains is what I call my closet :)

  5. Now that is one beautiful walk you and the dogs take. And they both sure look tired after. LOL!
I've been inching along with decluttering but it's been pretty random and I don't think I'm making a very big dent.
What a bargain that plant stand is! And your plants are looking fantastic.

  7. Oh for goodness sakes, I do hope that when you reach your turn around point that you sit and suck in that lovely view for a bit. Good for you for all the walking you're doing. You're gonna totally smoke those zombies if they ever show up! :)

    1. Mama Tea, you know I don't even spend any time at all at the beach LOL, just turn and walk back... that part of the beach is all hotels and boardwalk, it gets really old for this girl who craves solitude!

  8. Those zombies don't stand a chance!! Love your view and I'm totally envious of your $20 find.
And amazingly enough, I think you're cooler than we are. Today was cooler than it has been but our low was 40 and I think it hit 60 this afternoon. Go figure- it's weird all over.

    1. Lori, I still don't have those seedlings in the ground! We are having 40 mph wind gusts again today, I'm going to have to plant those tomatoes 4 feet deep if I don't get them in soon!

    1. rmgales, I started my seeds the last week of February, the same as usual but for some reason they are twice as big this year, not sure what's up but as long as they are healthy I won't even venture a guess!
