Not completely "craft-less"

It occurred to me after I posted about the quilt that I haven't been a total failure on the wintertime crafty-stuff, there's been "things"....

Like one really big sock.  Here's a size comparison to one of my normal socks LOL...

I will store this with our backpacking supplies.  If we ever run into a really cold one legged Sasquatch, we are ready.

My first sweater - okay this was like 4 months ago but it counts.

The mittens I made for myself that barely fit Finnegan, and he doesn't even like them because "they're itchy"... I can hang them on the Christmas tree next year!

I wanted something mid-century-ish that would match my thrift store mid-cen-mod starburst clock on the wall so hubby made a plywood headboard for me and I cut out and stained balsa wood diamond shapes and glued them on.  Nope, you can't see them behind the pillows, but trust me it's cool :)

And who could forget Susan's Apron Challenge?  Sewing Craft, check.

Anyone remember when I said I was going to start scrapbooking?  Hahaha, of course I have amassed a bunch of scrapping paraphernalia, had a grand old time organizing it all, because that's what I love to do, then never made even one page.

Well, I made my first one last week, I'm no longer a poser!

It's actually for the Scouts' bulletin board, so I made 2 pages I can just pull apart from each other as I add photos to it.

Now the horrifying part - I feel so overwhelmed by all the stuff I said I was going to do/finish and never did, that I made it all disappear...

yes, I frogged like 5 knitting projects!  A sweater, some socks, a shawl and something I don't even know what it was.  It feels oddly freeing, like the blank slate now has me motivated!

I'm working on a scarf and hat now, and that's the ONLY knitting I have going.

Other stuff is starting to come together - I finally got my dry-erase board up and in a place where I will see and use it - the front door.  I have different colors for the boys' activities, church, school, chores...haha all those different color markers satisfies my type A/OCD brain, so far it's working pretty well.  The big difference now is that I used to work on one thing until it was finished, but that was starting to make me really stressed about other stuff so now I work on several different things for a limited amount of time each.  I wonder if that's the reason I am finding it harder to have subjects to blog about?  I used to devote entire posts to one thing or do "tutorials" but now I feel really scattered...

Scattering over to the weather, here's a couple of photos from our snow "event" the other night:

It's all gone now.

One last thing... I FINALLY GOT MY SEED ORDER DONE, WOOHOO!!!  Cutting it right down to the wire this year :)

  1. Good job! All that organizing! My life seems so chaotic and incomplete compared to all you've done. We do have our seed order all prepared, and just waiting until the results of some germination tests to know how viable the ones we have left are. We were cruising along fine until this week when I came down with the flu. Now it's all stopped, and I haven't been out of the house since Sunday. I am up and around today, but now the husband's come down with it. I guess this is a good time to lay low and wait until it all passes over. Spring is coming,,one of these days!

  2. That's always been one of the things that attracted me to your blog----your need to organize. You should have been a professional! I love things neat and tidy, but often struggle with HOW to organize something. I can't tell ya how many ideas I've STOLEN from you.

  3. You've got more crafts completed than I have. I bought a couple of scrap book kits and haven't got to them yet.
I'm an organizer too. If I can't find something or know where it is, that drives me nuts. Right now that is just about everything in our house. I really need to do a huge whole house purge soon or just slowly go insane in the clutter.

  4. Love the sasquatch socks!! LOL!
I remember you posting the sweater / hoodie, and I LOVE that color. Good bunch of crafting if you asked me. I only managed to finish the dreaded ruffled apron, a scarf for my sister's Christmas present and a lap quilt for my friend's birthday.

Sue & Sparkless, what is that all about LOL???? I like nothing more than to organize but too bad I actually THINK I want to the do the craft/hobby itself LOL. It took me until the last year or so to realize that. Just in time before I wasted more money thankfully, I caught myself looking at all the jewelry making stuff and realized I only wanted to sort beads into bins not actually make jewelry LOL, I don't even wear any :)
***Carolyn Renee, I guess some winters are better than others. From what it sounds like many of us are feeling busier or stressed more than usual. I'm hoping that means next winter will be a long and leisurely one full of good books and crafty stuff!

  8. I think you've accomplished quite a lot and I love how organized you are. The scarf and the hat are looking good, can't wait to see them finished. I know I'm in the "knitting minority" here, but I just can't have more than one knitting project at a time - makes me feel unorganized.

  9. Erin I have missed your posts while away from blogging this winter. You always inspire me with all you get done. I always have way too much for any one person to accomplish on my to do lists, then feel depressed when I do not get it all done. What's a girl to do.

  10. The sock? Priceless! It even had Mr. Granny laughing :-)

  11. If it works for you, that is all that matters. I secretly enjoy frogging just because of the feeling of relief from getting out from the UFO. Still, I like to finish things, too.

  12. My seed order didn't go in until this week, either. You are not alone there in the back of the pack!

  13. There are so many projects I want to do, too. And I find I have gotten myself overwhelmed just trying to get them started/finished. All spring/summer/fall long I was looking forward to all that "down" time in the winter. HA! I like the dryboard idea. And the placement is perfecto!

  16. AGWH, I think we are smart to not rush this year, this weather could be playing a big joke on us yet...
