Picture catch up...

The weather here is rainy and chilly, kind of has me in a funk!  Doing more things related to organizing rather than what I wanted to do, which is garden planning.  I am trying to get back into regular blogging, even if I have nothing earth shattering to report, however!  I know that before we know it, we'll all be having tons of things to report on with seed starting and spring planting coming up, so that keeps me hopeful.

One good thing about dreary weather... comfort food!

Potato Soup and Biscuits

Here's a good one from the other day...

Yep, that's snow - we went from 65º one day, these pathetic flakes the next, then up to 71º the next!

Spotted at Finn's school the other day... Finn introduced me to "the new kid" at lunch, my mouth was agape as I met this kid who sat down with his salad and even ate it!  With the lunchroom filled with McDonald's bags, Chick Fil-A, "Lunchables", strawberry milks and other horrifying stuff I wanted to cry seeing this, gives me hope that there are indeed other parents out there who care enough to teach their kids, and that the kids are actually listening!

And with the new year, change is in the air!

That's my thick old mop before...

and after!

Not sure why I even grew it out, other than laziness.  I think this was probably the longest my hair has been since age 4?  I don't even own any "power tools" for hair, so it's not like I ever did anything with it other than the same old ponytail every day.  Tired of washing it and having it still be wet that evening, tired of it in my face, tired of hair in the drain, hair on my shirt, blech, I was not cut out for long hair, so it's gone!

I am finally out of my lazy stretch I think, I actually have bread in the oven!  Hope this is the start of a new season of motivation :)

  3. Oh, you 'poor' thing, with your mop of hair! It looks really nice short - nice salon job! There is nothing like soup and biscuits to comfort you inside and out -- and do you love that kid?? And orange, too! I was almost relieved to see the chocolate milk. That is good news.

  4. Nice picture of the back of your hair ;) How bout a full on shot so we can get the full picture? This is the time of year when things like a new haircut can really give you a pick-me-up.

  5. OMG who sends that kind of junk food with their kids for lunch?!!! Glad to see a kid who eats a salad.
You have beautiful hair!!! I'd kill for lovely thick wavy hair like that. And your new haircut is fabulous!

  6. Did you cut your hair yourself? If so, what talent! Only fitting that you would want a short haircut for the hot "winter weather" you've been having!

I could go for that big salad that little kid in school had right now. Dinner time coming up pretty fast and Mama Pea has no idea what to fix for din-din. Oh, dear.

Sue, we ate the whole pot for dinner, no leftovers :(

Susan, no salon job there, SuperCuts $12! It's just hair!

Jane, now if that isn't the pot calling the kettle.... LOL!

  9. Sparkless, yep beautiful ... LOL if you are a wig maker, otherwise it's just thick, hot and unruly! I was always jealous of those who had sleek straight hair, mine is too coarse to do anything with

Mama Pea, was it soup for dinner? You never have a shortage of soups!

Melissa, thanks, it's much easier now - I just scrunch and go :)

  10. I've still got the long hair. I've had mine short but I actually have to do more with it short to get it to look decent than I have to do with it long. But really short or long enough to pull back is the answer- anything in between is just a pain. Yours looks great!
And the soup looks yummy. Mmmm...

  11. Erin it's us people with the straight hair that can't do a thing with it. My hair just hangs there and if I try to curl it a bit it falls out in an hour no matter how much goop I put in. The only way for me to get and keep a bit of body is a perm and our budget doesn't stretch to that anymore. Plus no one perms anymore cause everyone wants stick straight hair and that style does not look good on everyone, heck it doesn't even look good on most people!
Now if you have a bit of natural body with the right cut you are set and it looks like you got a very nice cut, well at least in the back, as we can't see the front of the cut.

  13. Great haircut! There are time when I'm really considering whacking mine off...
I can't believe people would send McDonalds to school with their kids. Some of the school lunches are bad enough, but that just beats it all...

  14. Judy, my ponytail was definitely easy, the problem was that's all I ever did so even when I "dressed up" (almost never LOL) I couldn't wear it down it looked like Rosanne Roseannadana (now that's dating me!). I don't even have a blowdryer so I just scrunch it with wax and go, I could never have a high maintenance style I wouldn't know what to do

Sparkless, we always want what we don't have LOL

Dani, amen! The thing that bugged me the most was the hair in the drain and hairbrush, I didn't have the stomach for that :)

Anke, the weird thing is that our schools actually put out a good hot lunch, and there's always salad - it's the parents that are putting the bad stuff in. I pack the boys lunch since I'm not confident they will make good choices, and it's cheaper, but even some of the brown bags I saw scared me: lunchables, candy bars, "fruit" rollups (is there fruit in there?), gummy "things", why don't they send their kids with a syringe of corn syrup?! I'm all for sweets and snacks sometimes, but what's wrong with pita chips and a homemade cookie? I'm such a "dud" mom LOL!
