Happy Veteran's Day!

Yes, I'm still here, still struggling with I-don't-know-what!  I've been SO tired lately and so "not myself" that I'm afraid to post since I don't have any earth shattering projects going on right now.  I will say that the past 2 days have been really good, not tired after waking up and slowly returning to getting some daily chores done "on time".

I promised my mom a photo of her well-dressed guys, the result of a lovely day out thrift shopping!

Don't let their silly faces fool you, they love dressing up and Finn has been asking if he could wear his tie to school LOL.  I am proud to say also the the boys tie their own real ties and have expressed disdain lately over the unavailability of "real ties" for the younger set.  :)

The occasion was church, which was quite a shock to the kids as neither hubby or I had exposed them to much mostly due to the fact that we came from different backgrounds and hadn't ever really sat down and had any real discussions on the subject.  After some lengthy searching and researching, we have finally started to add faith into our lives and our childrens' lives.  I'm not sure why it took so long, but faith is never a bad thing to have in a family or life, no matter what faith a person has or shape it takes in their lives.  So anyway, that's been an added place I need to devote time to as well, so I'm in the midst of trying to best divide my time best between all our activities, and now I'm preaching to the mom choir, aren't I?!

I'm actually thinking of a dry erase board with a schedule on it just for ME!  Don't laugh, it actually calms me to see schedules posted all over the place - I'm weird.

I know one thing is on the schedule for sure today, I'm going to at least go through my fabric stash and pick a fabric for that apron!

Please thank the veterans in your lives today for us, and as a husband & wife veteran duo we appreciate all the thoughts we have been sent as well, have a great Veterans Day!

And fess' up... do any of you have that apron completed already?!!!

  1. Geez, I hope I don't get hate comments about this apron business...;o) Your boys looks so fantastic! And I love seeing those faces! First - thank you both (and all veterans, everywhere) for protecting the freedoms which I hold so dear. As for faith - it is a very good thing to add to your life, in whatever form it takes. It's what buoys us up when we really need it - along with all our bloggy friends (as Mama Pea would say). You have a very full plate right now, so don't stress the posts (or the apron!)

  3. The little men look great all dressed up! Some type of faith or organized religion is good. I felt that church and learing about religion was part of my children's education. Although I was a Sunday School teacher when they were young, they only had to go until they were in High School. At that point, it was their decision if they wanted to go or not. I have to admit that "The Italian" and I have not found a church that we want to go to since we got married. We keep talking about visiting some....something we need to tend to since we both miss it.

I BIG THANK YOU to all the Veterans and their families for all they give and sacrifice to protect our country and freedoms! It is appreciated more then many may think.

  4. Robin, I was much the same - I did all the "right" things progressing in Sunday School, confirmation and all that as a kid, but as an adult I've just been in limbo, so it's a welcome change in life. Bonus is seeing the hubby and boys looking so handsome once a week LOL!

  5. Those boys look wonderful in their ties!
Thanks to all our veterans and their families for all they do for us. You are appreciated.
We have a white board cork board in the kitchen by the phone. We use it all the time. I write reminders for myself on it all the time. The calendar which is right beside it has our schedule on it and of course there is a pencil hanging there so I can make any additions or changes. And there are white board markers and a dry eraser.
Funny thing was a friend of my son's came over and kind of remarked on how we actually use our white board. Yup, we use it and have worn out a couple and replaced them. LOL!

  6. Thank you for your service, your husbands and the sacrifices that your family has made for our country. I have felt out of sorts, like what you are describing, lately, so here's to us all feeling like ourselves again real soon!

  7. Happy Veterans Day!!

The boys look so grown-up all dressed up like that--adorable. I'm glad they don't fight you on that.
As for the dry erase board--it's what keeps me focused....in the summer. I'm "off work" right now--I cut the last of the broccoli 2 days ago and closed the last of the raised beds out (cold frames still going!) so my only schedule now is me....hooray!!!
Hope you feel back in the swing soon. We miss your cheery posts!

  9. I LOVE schedule lists. They make me feel peaceful. I also love lists. I have lists upon lists and then even a list of all my lists. Long sticky notes with lines were invented for me.

You had me drooling over a dry-erase board. Can I have a big one on an tri-pod?

  10. Happy Veterans Day to you and your family! With hubby having been in the military for 20 years, I know first hand about the sacrifices military families make. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!!
Your boys are so handsome! You must be very, very proud and the fact they tie their own ties is awesome!

Sue, fight me on dressing up? LOL, I have to fight them so they won't wear their clothes to school or everywhere haha! BTW can you believe I spent a total of 15.00 for BOTH outfits, and that was only because of the ties, I had to buy those new :) I love thrift shopping!

  13. Hey Erin-
I'm finally getting around to reading your post. Those sure are some handsome boys! I will fess up, but not the whole story. I have indeed completed an apron. I'm really excited to see everyone's finished projects. Finally successfully completing a project using a pattern has caused me to start a mental list of all the things I'd love to make next. I hope I can manage to stay excited about sewing. I can't wait to see your apron because I always LOVE your fabric choices. :) I'm glad you're starting to feel better! I wonder what happened to all of us this fall?
