Busy times...

It's been crazy here with getting to the kids' school orientations at 2 different schools, meeting teachers and figuring out 2 different bus schedules, whew, I need a break!  I don't have much on the garden front to muse about, I've been dealing with a lot of things elsewhere lately, but am getting some pumpkin puree baked and frozen today if it kills me!

A few photos, of course...

Loch's new classroom at the Math & Science Academy, I think he was embarrassed that I was taking pictures :)

Finn's new 1st grade classroom...

We've only had 1 decent meal prepared in the past 3 days, and the lucky meal was...EASY!

Quiche with fried potatoes out of the garden

In between stressors today I'm trying to get the pumpkins baked, mashed and frozen.

Bear with me the next few days since my mind is going a million different directions, can't write about it now but we are all A-ok, just a little crazy at the suburban homestead :)

  1. If you got one home cooked meal on the table and those pumpkins put away you are doing good.
Life gets crazy be kind to yourself.

  2. That two-school-two-bus-two-schedule thing must be a nightmare! Have you considered cloning yourself? Put Loch on the job - he's a smart cookie...;o)

Patty, those potatoes were good, and all the better since we grew them, although the harvest wasn't too great this year. Enough for a few dinners' worth at least.

  7. Hang in there. Soon you will get back into the swing of things for the year. The beginning of school always takes a bit of adjusting. I'm just glad we're down to only two bus schedules this year! Last year it was three buses, three different times, three different schools. Ack.
Try to have some down time this weekend.

  8. I meant to comment a while back when you said about not pressure canning the pumpkin, but I have also been crazy busy, Anyway, everything I read said that if you cut them in cubes, cover with water and pressure can that is fine. I know lots of people who pressure can the puree but I know the USDA doesnt like that. I firmly believe the USDA recomendations are way over kill.

  9. I think we're all presently caught up in extra busyness. It's a curse we all just have to live through and come out the other side smiling. ;o}

Things will settle a bit for you as soon as your two little guys are into the school routine. (Just think of those couple/few hours each day you will be home alone . . . with only the dogs! Hang in there, Friend.

  10. I think you are going to need a bigger dry-erase board. With 2 kids going in different directions, you are allowed to need some time to figure it all out. And yes, Loch realllly looked unimpressed! ha! Hope you get thru it all!

  11. Oh, the beginning of school is always, always, always crazy-ness at its best. Or worst, whichever way you tend to look at it. Hopefully it won't take too long to get the kinks out, and get onto a good schedule. Try to get some rest! Glad you are all ok.

  13. I am a bit envious of the stack of books each child seems to have waiting for them at the Math & Science Academy. What a cool deal! And yes, I think you may have mortified the boy for a second or two, lol. I hope both boys have a great year and that the schedule becomes second nature for you soon.
