Lame!

As in, did nothing productive, lazy, hiding from work kind of day!  I started out by going outside to water some of the newer plants, and it was about 88 degrees and hazy humid at 7:30 am, yuck!  I decided to come back in pronto.

I'm so lame in fact that I dropped the bamboo shades in the back of the house and back door so I wouldn't even have to look out in the garden.

Here's what I got done today...

1. watered plants, sort of
2. did laundry
3. went to Trader Joe's for milk when what I really needed was a big grocery trip (hate grocery shopping!)
4. hmmm.....
5. oh yeah, surfed Amazon.com for, no kidding - 3 hours...
6. fished out some flip flops from under the couch and swept the floor
7. right now I'm blogging and surfing Facebook while waiting for the kids' bedtime

Pretty lame, huh?  I know there are others out there dealing with the heat and humidity that has arrived, are you avoiding it like me or are you soldiering on?  I know for here at least, it's going to stay that way, but my body just isn't ready for it!

I'm so lazy I couldn't even take pictures of my laziness today!

Things are looking up soon however, I'm starting a new John Sanford book just as soon as Thing 1 and Thing 2 go to bed!

  1. I think you're just recovering from your wild, wild weekend! Seriously, that heat and humidity would shut me down, too. Especially, if it ever hit up here, because we don't have air conditioning. Only the kind Mother Nature provides 10 months of the year! And you did get a few things done today so give yourself some credit. It just wasn't your usual 30 hour work day. :o}

  2. Erin, It's just too darn hot out to do anything. I went to the plots early this morning for about 45 minutes, picked some strawberries and kind of hoed a bed. Then I came home and hid in the basement most of the day. I cleaned up the germinating tables, put all the gardening junk away and inventoried and organized my canned goods and supplies. Now I'm waiting on my dinner that "The Italian" is cooking....and having a nice cold vodka, cranberry & selter :)

  3. Sounds like my day too. Too hot (98) to be outside and that huge stack of laundry calling my name. I watched online episodes of Modern Family (love that show)...now I'm surfing.

  4. Haha...yeah, it's been a real scorcher - and even people down here have been whining about it.....

  5. It was 93 outside, but the worst part is that it is 89 in the house. It just makes it hard to move. You cant even run the sweeper because it blows out heat. We dont get this type of weather until August. I am just going to come out and say it, I hate this year so far!

Robin, a cool dark basement sounds nice!

Tami, I love that show, too, another guilty pleasure :)

E.G., if it's hot here I know you are feeling it! When it's this humid and hot the sky always gets that look like it may storm - never used to worry me until this year, now I don't like it much :)

Jane, that's my one saving grace right now, is that we do have a.c. - I keep it pretty high to save $$ but set at 80 it's enough to at least pull the humidity out. I really hope we get a few days worth of decent weather, I still have some heavy, sweaty work to do out there!

  9. I think Mr. Granny said it reached 80 today, but it felt cooler to me. The past two days have been perfect for my two chores....mutilating the rhodie and cleaning the garage!

  10. It's hard to handle heat and humidity when it hits. It takes me until about oh, September until I'm used to the heat and then it starts to get cool again. LOL!

We get heat but no humidity or at least not much even though we live near a large river.

Some days are not going to be huge productive days and that's okay. Life is a ride with ups and downs. The trick is to enjoy the ride.

  11. I think after the weekend you had, you should be able to plant it on the couch and do whatever the heck YOU want! Humidity-BLECH!

  12. I'll second what everyone said-sounds like the perfect day to lay low. I'm not looking forward to MN. heat but down there it is down right ridiculous-you fry a egg on the sidewalk.

  13. 98 degrees here today. Looks like we'll be spending some quality time at the library.
Ribbit - posting this way b.c stupid blogger won't allow anything else.

  14. You need a rest after your 4 day weekend of fun! :)

  15. Everybody needs one of those days every once in a while. Recharge the batteries and let your mind wander a bit - especially after your packed 4 day weekend.

  16. You and I are birds of a feather - I hate hot, humid weather. But I really, really hate it in May! I have no energy and just slog around, trying not to sweat. Blech. Doing next to nada is perfect in this weather.

  17. HA! I'm frying in ours as well, but welcoming the time off of work, and the welcoming into the summer, so I'm not complaining much...

    Grocery shopping is lame.
