Everyone is getting their garden porn except me! (she says with a whine and stomping feet!) Where, oh where are you Baker Creek Catalog I covet so this time of year? Look below, it's pathetic this year: on the top of the photo are the tons of what I call the "junk" catalogs, and below that, only 2 have arrived that I look forward to for real inspiration and ordering.
Needless to say, I hopped online and actually requested a copy of the Baker Creek catalog. Their site says if you haven't received one by now and are a regular customer, they apologize and please re-order, so if you are one who relies on that catalog for your "adult entertainment" and haven't gotten it yet, you aren't alone :)
In lieu of vegetable seed art, I present you with this lovely: there's really nothing better than a lamb gyro smothered in tzatziki and feta, mmmmmmm!
Look fast before I delete it, a photo of me! I just had to show off one of the awesome scarves I got for Christmas! This one was made by hubby's sister and the colors are divine, and I'll have to post another photo one day of the gorgeous twist cowl my other SIL knitted for me, I'm a lucky girl this year, handmade gifts are the best, and I hope we have enough cold days so I can enjoy them!
Random: A boy and his dog...
Note to self: more RED peppers need to be harvested this coming summer! Don't you feel bad for the lone red pepper in that stir fry?
I don't really want to start making lists and ordering until I get those few catalogs that I always wait on, but I finally got out "The Famous Binder" and am ready to dig in and start inventory!
I keep a planting calendar with notes every year, something is telling me with the way the climate has been the past year I should just burn it, eh?!
Poor thing! Even my hubby looks at the Baker Creek catalog. It is the ultimate in garden porn! But PATIENCE is a virtue, you know. Your goodies will come and your garden will put us all to shame once again.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a divine photo of you. Great scarf.
Judy
Great picture of you and your beautiful scarf. I hope you get enough cold weather to get some use out of it this year! Glad you said something about not getting your Baker Creek catalog. Now that I am thinking about it, I didn't get mine either! Viva la Garden Catalogs!!

No Baker Creek here, either. I reordered it on December 9. Only 7 of the 16 catalogs I should receive have arrived so far. It's a good thing I don't need any seeds this year ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnybody else having problems leaving comments on Blogspot sites lately? I finally got the comment box in Firefox after refreshing the page several times, get nothing but a blank page in IE.
Ooooooooo! Love the pic of you and your lovely scarf. I'm ready for spring since winter seems to have abandoned us this year. All we are getting is cold (around freezing) and sunshine.
ReplyDeleteI've gotten quite a few of junky catalogs, the pile keeps growing. Nice scarf! I love homemade gifts too!
ReplyDeleteI think you may be right. I figure at this point I expect spring to be abnormally something. But just what will it be??
ReplyDeleteMy BC came back in November I think, so sorry yours didn't make it. It is such a gorgeous catalog.
I have seeds I plan on sowing this year in a binder, smaller and likely less organized than yours, but it beats sorting through my seed collection looking for that special packet all year long. I just hope they store okay that way, it is my one worry.
I haven't gotten that beautiful Baker Creek catalog either, and it is truly garden porn. The pictures are the best of any of the many catalogs we usually get. Guess I'll go add another request. I can always hand an extra off at the next Master Gardener meeting, if I get more than one.
ReplyDeleteNice Scarf, and love the shades.
We're waiting too. At least you have giros. Mmmm.
ReplyDeleteJudy, I don't know if "divine" is a good word for that photo, but at least I'm not wearing a grubby tshirt LOL!

Dirt Lover, it seems like a lot of us didn't get our catalog from them this year, I wonder if they switched to a new system and we didn't "make the cut"? It better come soon, I'm a good customer :)

Granny, you are not alone with the blogger thing, lots of people are having issues. I had issues even replying last night, but seems to be working tonight.

Granny & Sparkless, & Ruth, I'm hoping for some photos from you on this big winter storm going through your area we are hearing about!!
meems, what is it with those junky catalogs? They always have 50% off sprawled across the front, that just turns me off, show me the VEGGIES! :)

Kelly, I have sown seeds from my binder the past 4 years and have gotten good results, but am thinking of tossing stuff this year, mostly because I'm growing tired of the same stuff LOL, but I am storing mine right on the shelf in my living room, I would probably had worse results if they were in the shed or somewhere with uneven temps.

Trailshome & Jody, I know we can always order online, but there's something so nice and relaxing about curling up on the sofa with the actual Baker Creek catalog in our hands!
1st,I can't believe you ran out of red peppers [maybe those where a lot of hot peppers I saw you can ]If you don't order from the "garden porn" [ rofl] where else do you get your seeds ,plantings,do you get planting?Love the scarf look,my daughter childhood friend came to visit with Jerry the other day,I met her children for the 1st time.both mom and 10 year old had on the very sheik ,twist cowl, and kept them on after removing there coats! I guess I don't get out often enough to see people do that, but it was cute the way the daughter wanted to be just like mom.
Delete1st,I can't believe you ran out of red peppers[ maybe the ones I saw you can were hot peppers]if you don't order from "the garden porn" [ rofl ] where do you get your seeds or plantings?do you buy some beginner planting,I think I remember you did.A friend came by to visit the other day and to see Jerry. Deletewhy are my comments showing up in pink-did I do something wrong?
DeleteSorry you haven't gotten your Baker creek Catalog yet. That is such a bummer. Hopefully it will come soon. I just got my Seeds of Change catalog today that I was waiting on. I think they are just trickling in. Do you have any posts about your binder? I love seeing how others get organized and yours looks like it would be cool.
ReplyDeleteGreat scarf to go with the great new hair cut! I'm pretty short on seed catalogs here too. Think I'll have to get online and do some ordering. I actually haven't gotten any good ones at all. I want to see inside your binder too! :)
ReplyDeleteJudy, I'm not sure why you are in pink, nothing in Blogger surprises me anymore. Maybe it's because you are extra special? LOL :)

Lynn hello! Oooh I love that Seeds of Change catalog too, sadly I haven't seen that one either yet. I do have a post on that binder so I will try and find it and repost it this week for you and Patty that inquired about it since it seems like a timely post with everyone getting into planning mode :)
Erin, have you gotten the SSE catty yet? I thought that was even better than BC this year! Also, can you do a post some time about what's actually IN your binder besides the seeds? Right now my gardening calendar is a pocket-size one I nabbed at Navy Federal... I know I need to come up with a better system, I just don't know where to begin!
ReplyDeleteLynn, Patty, & Lanette, I finally got the post on the seed binder up :)
