I did the SAME thing last year, branched out and grew a bunch of different stuff with less than stellar results. This year I did the same, (it's a gardener's disease I think LOL) but I remembered to keep the Brandywine! When you find what works well in your garden, make sure you tell people to remind you to plant them every year, haha. I haven't had the time to sit down for a long time with that big ol' book yet but I am looking forward to it when summer ends!Erinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06916896512933101955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5855162440022875977.post-73765665383366550302011-07-20T15:28:08.292-04:002011-07-20T15:28:08.292-04:00Gran, if you get on a sewing whim, when you are do...Gran, if you get on a sewing whim, when you are done patching the hole Annie made, you can come over and sew up the whole yard in bird netting and shade cloth LOL!
***
the Author, I usually stir fry them, but I'm sure you could chop them into normal bean size pieces and steam or cook them the way you normally would. I saw the pictures you posted of the boys at camp,looks like they had fun. my little scamps running around here are still trouble. The other day I tried to catch a nap holding the baby,I thought Devin [6 years old ] and katelynn [ 21/2 years old ] were in my room watching cartoons,its to hot to play outside with Devin's asthma. katelynn came out of the room and says "LOOK" Devin made me beautiful---oh boy, momma is gonna kill you-he had got a hold of my thinning shears [ I cut my own hair ] he cut enough hair that would fill a 2 cup measure cup.her poor locks-but they will grow back.judyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11818275450006660503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5855162440022875977.post-12039122497486580372011-07-19T07:43:56.900-04:002011-07-19T07:43:56.900-04:00I'm totally envious of your tomato harvest! The Rutgers in the east garden are touch and go, just when I think they're beginning to look healthy the blight (or verticillium wilt, I haven't yet decided what it is) begins again. Alas, I have no blight bitch at my beck and call, I must go out and snip them myself. I can't even sew anything...my daughter has my machine! But you've worked your little tuch off for every one of them. Persistence pays??

Love the "get in there and get 'em" picture of your Blight Boy but you really should have shown his face in case everyone doesn't know just how handsome he is. (Well, maybe you don't WANT everyone to know how handsome he is!) ;o}

If your comparison of our heat alongside yours doesn't fully illustrate just how wacky the weather is this year, I don't know what does. By 10:30 this morning both of us were sticky, sweaty, very hot and didn't smell any too fresh! When will this be over? We couldn't sleep well last night because, of course, we have no air conditioning. (Why would we need it up here near the Frozen Tundra?)
