They look pretty packed in there. I should have planted ours just as close, I might direct sow a few more seeds now that I see yours in action!

BTW, many thanks for the freshops.com website. It is FABULOUS and I'm totally putting in an order for rhizomes asap. BTW, are your rhizomes directly in the ground? I currently have mine in a container pot, that I was going to put in a larger container pot. I would love to see photos of your setup!meemsnychttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10584936035577822444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5855162440022875977.post-37414173387540993882011-05-18T09:16:11.282-04:002011-05-18T09:16:11.282-04:00Judy, you're on! The starter should be a very powerful fermenting scent - and should smell much like alcohol at times, since that is what it is. We brew beer, and the scent is essentially the same as the primary fermentation process. If you actually had an "off" starter, it would smell BAD, like rotting stuff, otherwise that strong sourdough smell combined with alcohol fermentation is what you want.
***
Mama Pea, I truly love these days since I know that my time is coming - it will be a humid sticky 100 outside and I will refuse to go out there and harvest, then I'll be jealous of everyone else LOL!Erinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06916896512933101955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5855162440022875977.post-706796557164214032011-05-17T13:51:09.290-04:002011-05-17T13:51:09.290-04:00Susan, the weather has been so strange this week -...Susan, the weather has been so strange this week - we have a random 1-3 hours of sun but the rest of the past week has been rainy. The 7 day outlook is the same way. The sun was just out and I thought that when I finished cooking I would go out there, then the thunder just started up again! At least it's in the 70's though.
***
Gran, LOL! Sometimes I cringe when writing the check for music lessons, but then Finn and Loch surprise me by actually playing something, and they seem to enjoy it!
