They can be very agressive. The only wood that is safe from their destructiveness is pressure treated wood. I used to hand pollinate some of my plants to make sure they got pollinated because we don't have many bees.<br /><br />We have a background noise from a smelter and I've never gotten used to it. The husband and kids have gown up with it and don't notice it but I still notice it when I sit in the yard.
