I had to yell at so many kids last week playing in that junk I had to wonder where ARE their parents? Eeeew! Needless to say after the city picked up all the big junk yesterday I treated myself to my favorite java shop drink and headed back home to spend the day sweeping up their debris and mowing their front lawn - I stopped short of starting to plant stuff over there LOLErinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06916896512933101955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5855162440022875977.post-86715718576989118702010-09-15T08:58:38.994-04:002010-09-15T08:58:38.994-04:00LOL! I get so mad when I have to pick litter off of our front lawn. Do you know if they were renters or owners who had lost their home to foreclosure? It's just sad when people don't have enough pride to clean up after themselves.

Shingled mattress??? I would never let my child play anywhere near someone's crusty old mattress. Bed bugs anyone?Thomashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09303344546714641616noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5855162440022875977.post-21781659967659413672010-09-13T23:01:22.983-04:002010-09-13T23:01:22.983-04:00Oh, yes. Our area is a little "odd" in that we aren't really a neighborhood, just a lone street near the airfield, so we don't have much police presence (a good thing) and real city code patrols here unless requested (which i did). Even though this is an issue occasionally, I wouldn't trade it for a Homeowner's Assoc for anything in the world! At least I don't have the city harassing me about my clothesline or veggie garden!

Hi Sparkless! so you know what I'm talking about! I have a clothesline but it's a nice retractable one and I wouldn't hang undies out that's for sure LOL! I will admit that since moving to the Bible Belt years ago I have developed an appreciation for redneck-ness, but I draw the line at mattresses and outright trash in my yard!Erinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06916896512933101955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5855162440022875977.post-78555554286229067782010-09-13T18:13:30.754-04:002010-09-13T18:13:30.754-04:00I feel your pain. My redneck neighbours use their yard as a dumping ground for all sorts of junk and then they try to pretty it up by planting a few flowers and making an hideous fence from pallet wood!
Not to mention their clothes line is two feet from my kitchen window which means I get to look at their drying laundry and underwear!Sparklesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02806553694200529082noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5855162440022875977.post-39878749094825967632010-09-13T16:53:59.035-04:002010-09-13T16:53:59.035-04:00Hmm...it looks like somebody could use a homemade ...Hmm...it looks like somebody could use a homemade catapult. Not weeding it isn't an option, since I'm having a big BBQ in a couple of weeks and there's no way I can have people over with it looking like that! I will do roundup on their side, but that doesn't help what's already there LOL

Hi Janet! Sweet isn't the word I would choose for our neighborhood kids, they are more like hoodlums! I caught one trying to kill a bird in my front yard a few months ago, he's lucky he escaped with his own life intact! Tomorrow is city pickup day so I'm hoping the city forwarded my complaint on for them to handle, time will tell!

Mama Pea - stop teasing me! I can't get away from my neighborhood fast enough - sure wish the housing market would take off again for selling, but that's a double edged sword on the buying side, isn't it LOL?Erinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06916896512933101955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5855162440022875977.post-32012846151197693492010-09-13T15:15:20.480-04:002010-09-13T15:15:20.480-04:00Hang in there, girl.
